In the not-so-distant past, African-Americans’ ability to travel within the United States was severely restricted and often dangerous. Between 1936 and 1964, most travelers relied on a guidebook called “The Greenbook” to tell them which areas (including accommodations and restaurants) of the US were safe and which should be avoided.
Due to America’s colored past, the disparity of diverse and inclusive marketing to African-Americans offers the perception that African-Americans don’t travel nor are they interested.
MEET OUR FOUNDER
Maya George is a tourism and travel industry executive with over 11 years experience, whose goal is to change the face of travel.
As a first generation American and Brooklyn native to Guyanese immigrants, Maya started her journey of discovery at the age of four, first traveling "home" to Guyana. Eighteen countries and four continents later, Maya is recognized as a change agent for diversity and inclusion in the travel industry.
